June 2019-After Several Inches of Rain, the Woods and Gardens Look Great

Cornell Oasis Garden is a Community garden located in the middle of a forest in Kenwood (48th and Cornell, Chicago. Presently we have 31 gardeners. I'll be blogging on a more regular basis now. We've had an enormous amount of rain over the past 2 months. The temperature has been on the cool side throughout May and into the third week of May. We had a new visitor to the garden today, an Ebony Jewelwing. This damselfly is most often found near water. Perhaps all of the rain has brought him, it's a male, into our woods. The entrance to the garden is pinched near the beginning. This gives the illusion of going into a secret place.
